While several congratulated the Universal Boss for his achievements, a few expressed that he should now retire.
Chasing a stiff 280 set by India, all eyes were set on Chris Gayle as soon as the Universal Boss made his way towards the pitch alongside Evin Lewis. Afterall, he was just a few runs shy of surpassing the all-time great Brian Lara to become the highest run-scorer for West Indies in the ODIs.
And Gayle did reach the milestone only to bow down to the right-arm fast-medium bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the subsequent over. This match was already a historic landmark for Gayle as it is his 300th ODI, taking him past Lara's 299 as the most by a West Indian in the 50 overs-per-side format.
